Our Mission Statement

EquiARTs is an independent equine veterinary practice specialising in stud medicine with a particular focus on Advanced Reproductive Technologies (ARTs). We are a small company hugely passionate about the many ways to produce a pregnancy for our breeders in the total respect of your mares welfare. From a simple AI to the most modern technologies and solutions to maximise fertility and genetics, we have you covered. Together, we can breed the future.

About the team

  • Irma Rosati Dr Med Vet PhD MRCVS

    Clinical Director and Veterinary Surgeon

    Irma obtained her degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1999 at the University of Sassari, Italy. 3 years later she obtained a PhD in Physiology of Animal Reproduction with an original thesis titled “Use of reproductive biotechnologies applied to the equine species”. Until 2013 she covered several university roles involving both research and teaching. She is co-author of several published scientific papers on topics ranging from semen freezing to vitrification of oocytes. In 2013 she decided to move to clinical practice and, after many years at some of the top breeding facilities in the world, she specialises in hypofertility, embryo transfer and IVEP. Irma is happy to answer any breeding queries you may have and is available for consultation and advice on problem mares.

  • Matteo Tardella MRCVS Cert AVP ESM

    Veterinary Surgeon

    Matteo graduated from the University of Pisa in 2017. Since university Matteo developed an interest in Equine stud medicine. He moved to England at the end of 2017 to work for an equine and large animal practice in Somerset, where he dealt with thoroughbred studs and some local sports horse breeders while also enjoying the calving and lambing seasons. In 2021 he moved up to Gloucestershire to be a full time Stud vet until moving back down in Devon in 2022 to work alongside Irma. Since moving in the UK Matteo has become an advanced practitioner in Equine Stud medicine. His favourite parts of the job are Embryo transfer and working alongside farriers to solve foal limbs deviations. During his free time Matteo enjoys the Devon countryside with his girlfriend Scarlett and their three dogs. Matteo also enjoys horse riding, fishing, and shooting.
